DOL-FISH, n. The lesser dog-fish (Sc. 1905 A. R. Forbes Gael. Names 358).Arg. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 X. 407:
In summer 1787, there were several companies of natives employed, and though of little experience, they caught at one setting . . . from 30 to 80 cod and ling, besides a variety of scate, eels, dol-fish, etc.
