DOCHERTIE, DOCHARTY, n. and v. [′dɔxərtɪ̢ + ′do-]
1. n. A punishment meted out to young boys by older ones, in which the victim is lifted by hands and feet and his posterior bumped on the raised cobble-stones that bound the pavement gutters (Ags.4 1932; Ags.17 1940).
2. v. To punish A boy in this way (Ags. 1916 T.S.D.C. II.).
