DECK, n.1 In phr. a deck of cards, a pack of cards (Dmf. 1894 J. Shaw in Trans. Dmf. and Gall. Antiq. Soc. 146; Ant. 1880 W.H. Patterson Gl. Ant. and Dwn.). Since 17th cent. dial. in Eng.; still current in U.S.A., but now dial.
