DAPPERPYE, adj. Variegated, many-coloured.Sc. 1802–3 Minstr. Sc. Border (ed. Scott) II. 141:
Oh, he has pu'd aff his dapperpye coat, The silver buttons glanced bonny.

[The first element is a variant of dapple, O.Sc. dapill, dappled (cf. dapple-grey). For second element cf. pie in piebald from pie, a magpie.]
