COWDA, COWDIE, n. A small cow (Dmf. 1825 Jam.2, cowdie; Rxb. Ib., cowda, 1923 Watson W.-B., obs.); a heifer. Also found in n.Eng. dial. (E.D.D.).s.Sc. 1793 T. Scott Poems 319:
