COMMANDIMENT, Commandement, n. “A mandate. This pronunciation still prevails among the peasantry in S[cotland], and occurs in our version of the Psalms [Psalm CIII. 18, CXIX. 6, etc.]” (Sc. 1825 Jam.2). Heard by Abd.22 c.1870. [kə′mɑndɪmənt]

[This pronunciation died out in St.Eng. in the 17th cent., but was still common in Eng. dial. in the 19th (N.E.D.).]
