CHIRAWK, n. and v. [tʃɪ̢′rɑk]

1. n. The harsh noise made by hens (Abd.2 1940).Mearns 1933 “L. G. Gibbon” Cloud Howe iii. 202:
And in Segget backyards a scraich and chirawk as the broods of the winter gobbled their corn.

2. v. To make such a noise.Ib. i. 33:
Hens chirawking mad for their meat.
