(2) Ags.(D) 1882 Brechin Advertiser (8 Aug.) 3/3:
[She] keepit fat wid noo-a-days be ca'd a cheepin' shoppie.

[Prob. from Irish siopa, a shop (Dinneen); Cheepin' in (2) is prob. a corruption of shebeen.]
