BURROW, n. Dial. form of St.Eng. barrow, a tumulus. Also found in s.Eng. dial. (E.D.D.).Bwk. 1845 Stat. Acc.2 II. 100–101:
To the east of the field where it [a sword] was discovered there is a burrow . . . and there are two similar collections of stones in the other half of this parish.
