BREEKLET, n. A kind of puttee worn by female field-workers to prevent their skirts from hampering them in their work.Rxb. 1917 Kelso Chron. (18 May) 2/6:
When young ladies leave home and take to farm work they must carry the fashions along with them. Different from the days of our grandmothers, when “bondagers” wore . . . breeklets or straw ropes up to the knee.
