BOWL, v.4 In phr. bowl the money, a cry of children to a newly married couple, perhaps equivalent to “roll it out.” See, however, Bowl-money and Ba'-money. [bʌul]Lnk. 1926 W. Queen We're a' Coortin 77; Lnk.3 1935:
I thocht I'd hiv drappit deid wi' fair fricht gaun through thae mairrage ongauns at the Manse. An' forbye that, there wis the big crood staunin' ootside. An' the weans wi' their shoutin' “Bowl the money, hard up.”
