BEETIN-STOCK, n. A person who is frequently beaten; lit. a beating (i.e. whipping) post.Abd.4 1931:
My mother used to say “I dinna mak a beetin-stock o' them, bit I gar them ans'er.”

[From beating, vbl.n., and stock, a post. Beating-stock is given in the N.E.D. as obs. and without any quot. Cf. whipping-stock in N.E.D. with the same lit. and fig. meanings and quots. from 17th cent. Eng.]
