AYRSKEP, n. Inheritance. Arch.Rxb. 1873 J. Murray D.S.C.S. 247:
Then says Boaz, "But meynd, the day at (y)e bye the feild off the haand o' Naaomie, (y)e'll hæ-tui-bye'd tui fræ Ruith the Moabeyte wumman, the weyfe o hym 'at's geane, tui keip up the neame o the deid ynna the ayrskep."

[This is an archaic revival of O.Sc. airiskap, arscap. Appar. adopted from Mid.L.Ger. arfskap (L.Ger. arfskup; Fris. erfskip), the first element being influenced by O.Sc. air = Eng. heir. See D.O.S.T. arscap and air, n.1]
