AWMUCKS, n.pl. “A kind of fish found upon sandy beaches; they possess the power of inflating their bodies. There are ‘ling-awmucks,' and ‘skate-awmucks,' and ‘shell-awmucks'” (Edm. Gl. (1866), for Sh.). Jak. gives amok, amek in sense of cuttlefish.
