Wam(e)bras(e, Wambrac(e, n. [Wame n. and Brase n. 2.] Appar. a strap or something of the sort used in conjunction with a girth or girths on a war saddle, ? to protect the horse's belly. Cf. however, Vantbras n. with which there is ambiguity and some examples of which may possibly belong here. — 1537 Treasurer's Accounts VI 336.
