Trumpetour, Trumpatour(e, n. Also: trumpeter, -ar, -o(e)r, trumpettour, -ar, -er, trumpattour, trumputour, trumpitour, -er, trumpytar, trumpether, trumphiter, trompetour, (tromitir). [e.m.E. trumpitour (1555), trumpeter (1581), trumpetor (1599), trumpetter (1638), F. trompetour (1530) f. trompeter.] A trumpeter, one who plays the trumpet, esp. for military purposes, public proclamations, etc. Also possess.
