Subtenand, -tenant, n. Also: sib- and -tennand, -ten(n)end, -tennant, -ten(n)ent. Pl. also -tenenttis, -tennentes. [18th c. Eng. sub-tennant (1703, Isle of Man); Tenand(e n.] One who holds land from a tenant.(a) 1445 14th Rep. Hist. MSS App. iii 12.
