Skin(n)ar, -er, n. Also: skyn(n)ar, -er, skynnar(r)e, -air, -eir, -or, skynarr, sken(n)ar. [ME and e.m.E. skynner (Trevisa), skinner (1572); Skin n. 2. Cf. ON skinnari.] A skinner.In use as a surname from the 14th c. See Black Surnames, s.v. Skinner. ‘Sym Skynnar’, in 1513 Doug. viii Prol. 133 and 1560 Rolland Seven S.
