Settar, -er, n. [e.m.E. and late ME setter (?1403); Set v.]

a. One who sets, in senses 3, 7, 29 c, 37, 40 a, 41; XI, variously, of Set v. b. Setter croft, one being inducted into the ‘craft’ of freemasonry. (Cf. Set v. 12 a to put (something) in place.) c.
