Seclud(e, v. Also: seclwd, secluid, secclud. P.p. also seclude. [Late ME and e.m.E. seclude (1451), seclud (1599), L. sēclūdere to shut off.]

1. tr. To shut out, exclude, debar (a person) from association with oneself or others, from participation in some action or activity, or from an entitlement, privilege, office, etc. a. With complements, as fra or of (the entitlement etc.) and to do or be something. b. Without complement.a. (1) 1466 Charter (Reg. H.) No. 396.
