Scuttall hoill. (Cf. Scuttall,n., also 17th c. Eng. scuttle-hole a small hatchway on a ship. Also in the later Sc. dial. as scuter hole, and in the mod. dial. as scuttle hole (1920) a hole in the ground into which refuse water, slops, etc. are poured, a drain (see SND, s.v. Scuttle n. 2). Cf. also later Sc. scuttal, in the same sense (1804).) — 1545 Reg. Episc. Aberd. I 424.
