Schawe, n. [Perhaps a reduced and Scotticised form of Gael. *sitheachair a wolf-killer (and so ? connected with the north-eastern surname Shiach, rendered as S(c)haw in Argyll), f. Gael. *sithech, MIr. sidhach a wolf.] ? A servant or retainer. — 1604 Misc. Hist. Soc. IV 278.
