Riach, Reach, adj. (Gael. riabhach drab, greyish, brindled. Recorded as a surname from 1452 (Black Surnames). Also in the later dials. of north. Scotland and Orkney = of a greyish white colour, brindled, ‘applied esp. to a mixture of black and white wool in homespun cloth’ (SND, s.v. Riach adj.).) — 1697 Old-lore Misc. VIII 73.
