Repet, Rippet, -it, n. Also: reput; reppet; rippat; ryppet. [‘Perh. of imitative origin’ (OED). But perh. f. Repet(e v. 1, with the stress shifted to the first syllable. Also in the later and mod. dial. as rippet, repet, etc.] Noisy cheer or outcry; uproar; tumult; ? open dispute or disagreement.Also in weakened sense: ? A fuss.Also personified.(1) c1500-c1512 Dunb.
