Posnet, n. Also: -nat(e; posinett; (posno). [ME and e.m.E. postinet (north., 1327), possenet (1330), posnet (1353), possynet (1390), postnet (1410), poscenet (1442), med. L. (Brit.) pocinettus (1208), poce- (1286), etc., OF poçonnet (13th c. in Greimas), pocenet, dimin. of poçon pot, vase, cup (see Possin).] A posnet, ‘a small metal pot or vessel for boiling, having a handle and three feet’ (OED). Also comb. with -pot(t. 1329 Exch. R. I 202.]
