Parsenere, Parsaner(e, Parson-, Personar(e, -er(e, n. Also: persenare, -ere, -soneir, -sowner(e, (presoner(e), and Parcynere. [ME. parciner (1297), -cenere (14th c.), -cynere (Wyclif), -ceynere (c 1440), e.m.E. parcener (1574) (see Parcener), parsainer (Cursor M.), -sonere (Chaucer), AF. parcener (1292), OF. parçonier, -suner, etc., also per- (OED.), med. L. parcenarius, -cinarius, personarius, reduced f. parcionarius Parcionar(e n. Cf. also Partiner(e.]As with other forms in par-, per-, this sequence is commonly represented in the MS. by an abbreviation and the choice of expanded form to appear in a modern edition is merely editorial.It is possible that some of the earlier examples appearing under Partiner(e should be re-spelled parc- and assigned to this word, since c and t are frequently confused in transcription, and are in some MSS. seldom if at all distinguishable.
