Park, n. Also: parke, pairk; perk(e, perc. [ME. and e.m.E. park(e (c 1260), parc (c 1275), perk (north., a 1440), a park, also any enclosed piece of ground (once, 1658), OF. parc, med. L. (Eng.) parcus (c 820), -a, -um (12th c.). Cf. Parcage n. (and Parrok n.1).] A park, in the usual applications.

1. A piece of land enclosed for a particular purpose.a. Orig., a tract of land in which beasts of chase were kept; a piece of enclosed woodland or forest. b.
