Menever, Menyvaire, Mynny-, Mynevar, -ver, n. Also: meneuer, menyvare, -uer, -were; mynniwer, mynnywar, -fere; and Mennytvare. [ME. and e.m.E. meniver(e (13th c.), menuver, menevayr, -veyr, -voir, -ver(e, e.m.E. mynever (1470–85), miniver, -fer, AF. meniver, MF. menu ver, vair lit. ‘little vair’: see Vair n.] Miniver, a variety of fur used for lining or trimming garments.Also plur., skins of miniver.(a) 1374 Exch.
