Intent, v. [OF. intenter, med. L. intentare.] tr. To raise or institute (a legal action). Cf. Intend v. 4. Usually in p.p. and in passive sense, and frequently placed after the noun. Also occas. in transferred use.(1) 1520 Fife Sheriff Ct. 171.
