Hove, Howe, v.1 [ME. hove (c 1220), e.m.E. hove, hoove (c 1540), obs. after 16th c. For the later Sc. forms see Huve and Houf.]

1. intr. To remain stationary, usually on horseback. (Only in poetry.)(a) 1375 Barb. xix. 345 (E).
