Greting, Greit(t)ing, vbl. n.2 Also: gretyng(e, -yn, gretting, greetin, greating. [ME. greting, -yng, -ung, OE. gréting, f. Grete v.2] Greeting, salutation.Very common in the introductory formula of official and personal letters.(1) a1400 Leg. S. xi. 21.
