Mauchlyne, -linys, n.1.  Also: Mauchtlyne; Mauchlynis, Mawchlynis, -lanis, Maulynis. [The name of the Belgian town Mechlin (Flem.) or Malines (F.), in its mediæv. forms Machlines, Machelen (and med. L. Machlinia).] Mauchlyne, Mauchlinys blak (lymestar), (blak) lymister mauchlynis, a type of expensive black cloth similar to Leominster black (see Lemistar n.), chiefly used for hose. 1541 Treas.
