Bombard, Bombart, n. Also: bombarde, boum-, bumbard; bumbart, -bert. [ME. bombard, bumbard (c 1430), OF. bombarde, med. L. bombarda, bombardum.] A cannon of the earliest type. Also attrib. with nail, quhele, stane.(a) 1436 Exch. R. IV. 681.
