Attingent, a. [L. attingent-, attingens, pres. p. of attingere. Also in e.m.E. (1578) in literal sense of ‘touching’.] Touching, being near or close, in age or relationship.a1568 Scott i. 35 (attingent now to twentye ȝeir of aige). 1562 Inverness B. Rec. I. 79 (attingent in thred and ferd degreis of consanguinite). 1567 Acts II. 578/1 (attingent in secund and thrid degreis). 1592 Ib. III. 559/2 (neir and attingent in blude and consanguinitie to his Maiestie). 1626 Antiq. Aberd. & B. IV. 289 (to quhome he was attingent neir in blud).
