Assailȝe, v. Also: assailȝhe, assail(l)ȝie, assayleyhe; assalȝe, -ȝie, -eȝe; assaillie; asselȝe, -ȝie, asseilȝe. [The normal Sc. adoption of OF. asaillir with (occas. printed as ly) for ll. Cf. the rare early ME. asailȝe, usually asaile, asaille, etc.: see Assaile v.]
