Aposteme, Aposthume, n. Also: appostrum. [ME. (and e.m.E.) aposteme (c 1380), aposthume, OF. aposteme, -tume.] A large abscess. —c1500 Rowll's C. 46 B. (appostrum or the perlocy). Knox II. 134 (strikkin with ane aposthume in that eare). 1568 Skene Descr. Pest 33 (gif ony aposteme apperis). a1651 Calderwood VII. 185 (a hudge quantitie of teugh humours in the forme of ane aposteme).
