Adhere, v. Also: adheyr(e, adheyir, adherr, adhaire, adhyre. [e.m.E. (c 1600), L. adhærēre.] intr. To cleave, remain close or faithful, to stick, to a person or principle, etc.; spec. in Law of husband and wife.1525 Acts II. 294/1 (nocht to adheir to me, hir husband). 1549 Compl. 82/11 (til adhere til inventit fablis). 1562-3 Winȝet I. 97/14 (adheirand to his priuat opinioun). 1563 St. A.
