STOUTH, n.2 Only in phr. stouth and routh, -ruth, plenty, abundance.Sc. 1816 Scott Antiquary xi.:
You gentle-folks, to say sae, that hae stouth and routh, and fire and fending.
s.Sc. 1897 E. Hamilton Outlaws vi.:
Ye shall hae stouth and ruth, fire and fending at Redheuch till ye weary o' us.

[The words have been altered from the commoner Stoup And Roup (see note s.v.) under the influence of Routh, n.1 O.Sc. has stout and rout, completely, every bit, a.1400.]
