SLID, n. A type of sledge or skid for sliding heavy loads along the ground. Obs. in Eng. in 18th c.Slg. 1719 Burgh Rec. Stirling (1889) II. 356:
For harling Jean Gilmer to the shore on a slid when she hanged herself.
Fif. 1904 Dundee Advertiser (15 Aug.) 6:
The hay 'slipes' or 'slids' for shifting the coles or ricks to the shed.
