KILLIEMANKIE, n. Also kilimankie, killymanky. Calamanco, a woollen material from Flanders common in the 18th c. Also attrib.; a garment, esp. a petticoat, made of this material. Cf. Mankie.Sc. c.1700 Herd's MSS. (Hecht 1904) 153:
Ye shall get a gown o' silk And coat of killiemankie.
Abd. 1746 W. Forbes Dominie Depos'd (1765) 38:
It could not miss, But lifting Maggy's killimankies Would come to this.
Rnf. 1751 W. Hector Judicial Rec. (1878) 292:
One bed, with dark killymanky curtains.
