GAGGER, v., n.

I. v. To make a sound in the throat as of one mad with thirst.Abd. 1891 G. W. Anderson Strathbogie 235:
The dying freebooter crawling after the dog with his naked dirk. “Gaggerin' for bleed,” he said, for it was “sae lang sin he leet the life oot o' onything.”

II. n. A rough, gurgling sound in the throat.Bnff.2 c.1930:
I kent by the gagger in 's throt 'at he widna lest lang.
