CHAUVE, adj. Not known to our correspondents.
1. A term applied to black cattle “when white hair is pretty equally mixed with black hair” (Nai. 1813 W. Leslie Gen. View Agric. Nai. and Mry., Gl. 451).
2. Applied to a swarthy person when pale (Ib.).
