YAUD, int. A call made by a shepherd to his dog when he is to drive away sheep at a distance. Also in forms far yaud (Sc. 1808 Jam.), far yaw. See Far, adv.1, II. 28.s.Sc. 1803 Scott Minstrelsy III. 116:
Hey, Batty, lad — far yaud, far yaud!
Sc. 1815 Scott Guy M. xlviii.:
Hoy, Yarrow, man — far yaud — far yaud.
