YAP, n.2 Also yapp. An apple (Edb. 1859 F. W. Bedford Heriot's Hosp. 345). Orig. Heriot's Hospital slang, but now more gen. used by children (Edb. 1968).Edb. 1910 Scotsman (3 Sept.):
The spoil of the neighbouring gardens “yapps” and “blobbs” were “palie” to the palate of the foundationers.
