WHISKER, n. Also whusker (Sc. 1928 Scots Mag. (May) 141). Sc. form and usage: a breezy wind. [′ʍɪskər, ′ʍʌskər]Sc. 1721 J. Kelly Proverbs 254:
March Whisker was never a good Fisher. An old Proverb signifying that a windy March is a Token of a bad Fish Year.
