TYAUPEN, n. A stupid lubberly person.Sc. 1924 Scots Mag. I. 56:
“A muckle tyaupen” is a vulgarised form of “capon” but applied to a person in the sense of feckless, soft, stupid.

[Not as explained in quot. but a palatalised variant of Taupin, n., 2.]
