I. v. ?Poss. the same as Eng. dial. twine, to pine, be ill.Ayr. 1790 A. Tait Poems 59:
Aye twining and dwining.

II. n. ?Ayr. 1790 A. Tait Poems 161:
Pope sent him off in a gude twine.

[The two usages above are inserted for the record and because they are by the same author, whose language is often incoherent and unintelligible, and it is quite uncertain what precisely he meant in the contexts.]
