TUCHIN, n., adj. Also tuchan, teuchin. [′t(j)uxən]
I. n. A husky cough, a slight bronchial catarrh, causing hoarseness (Inv., Mry. 1958).Inv. 1943 C. M. Maclean Three for Cordelia 138:
He's gane hame t' his mither wi' the tuchan.
II. adj. Hawking, clearing the throat of phlegm (Sc. 1911 S.D.D.).
