TON, n. Sc. usages:

1. A measure of weight for coal, = 36 cwt.Kcb. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 XV. 87:
The coals are sold for a guinea per ton, as it is called, though it consists of 36 cwt.

2. Comb. ton-wecht, a game in which two or three boys straddled in a row with bent backs on to which the rest of the players jumped and sat until the combined weight was dislodged by the heaving of the stooping boys or else brought the whole lot down (Abd., Ayr. 1972).
