SWINGER, n.2 Also ¶swinyard. [′swɪndʒər]

1. A big, stalwart fellow (Sh., Cai. 1972). Obs. in Eng.Cai. 1961 “Castlegreen” Tatties an' Herreen' 21:
A long, straicht swinger o' a chiel — ye'd think he'd swallowed 'e poker.

2. Anything big or impressive of its kind, a thumper, stunner. Rare and slang in Eng. Used attrib. in quot.Abd. 1889 Bon-Accord (15 June) 20:
A muckle swinyard clay pipe stuckin' intae my mou'.
